Typical Itinerary
Day 1 – Arrival
Our driver will be at your nominated collection point at the agreed time to collect you, your team and all your kit. We greet you at Exmouth we’ll cook you a hearty meal, run through the plan for your Jurassic Coast adventure and then leave you and the team to rest for the evening.
Day 2 – Exmouth to Otterton

Your first day on the trail will follow Exmouth’s famous long, sandy beach. Soon you reach the Geoneedle and the Jurassic Coast Path begins proper. The red sandstone on this, the oldest section of the (pre!)historic path, dates back more than 200 million years!
Day 3 – Otterton to Branscombe

On day 3 you’ll pass by the partially eroded Iron Age Fort at High Peak and Peak Hill, the scenic photo hotspot. There’ll be a chance to stop for an ice cream in one of Sidmouth’s many beachfront parlours before passing by the Norman Lockyear Observatory. A short climb up Weston Beach Cliffs takes you out of Salcombe Regis. Then you’re heading towards the beautiful Branscombe Beach to rest for the evening.
Day 4 – Branscombe to Lyme Regis

After leaving Branscome there’s a short descent towards Branscombe Beach, then on to the Hooken Cliffs and following the curve of the coast around to Beer Head and beyond to the Axmouth to Lyme Regis Undercliff Nature Reserve. A major highlight of the Jurassic coast, the untamed Nature Reserve is home to orchids, ferns and fungi. There are more ice cream opportunities in Lyme Regis before you stop for the night.
Day 5 – Uplyme to Chideock

At the start of Day 5 there is the opportunity for a small detour to Lyme Regis’ Fossil Beach. There, the Ammonite Pavement astounds with an abundance of fossils littering its glistening shores. After passing by charming Charmouth you tackle the Golden Cap. The longest climb of the whole tour takes you to the highest point on the south coast where you’ll be afforded stunning views of your path already walked and that yet to come.
Day 6 – Chideock to West Bexington

After conquering the Golden Cap you head to the oldest human settlement in Dorset at over 10,000 years old, Doghouse Hill. Beyond which there’s a climb up Thorncombe Beacon before descending towards Eype Beach and on to West Bay. From West Bay you can diverge from the official Coastal Path Route and opt for a walk along the sandy beach and under the looming cliffs as featured in the TV show Broadchurch.
Day 7 – West Bexington to Fleet

After leaving West Bexington you come to the picturesque village of Abbostbury, and traverse the 13 km long twitchers paradise of Fleet Lagoon, home to dunlin, oyster catchers, little egret and ringed plovers, before coming to rest for the night in Fleet. .
Day 8 – Fleet to Overcombe

Day 9 is the most urban setting you’ll have encountered for the past week, mainly walking around Weymouth Bay. Beyond Sandsfoot Castle andNothe Fort, you’ll take in the length of Weymouth Esplanade and pass by RSPB Lodmoor Nature Reserve, home to bearded tits and Cetti’s warblers, gulls, ducks and kingfishers. We camp near Osmington tonight.
Day 9 – Overcombe to Lulworth Cove

The final day of your hike allows you to take in the most beautiful bays the UK has to offer. Long ascents reward you with fantastic views over Ringstead Bay. Soon after, you arrive at the ancient rock archway of Durdle Door. Finally you reach the alluring Lulworth Cove. Here we can arrange a fish BBQ on the beach with locally caught produce to celebrate conquering one of the oldest trails in the UK
Day 10 – Home
You did it! Congratulations on the completion of your Jurassic Coast walk! After a hearty breakfast you’ll be on your way, we’ll get packed up andl follow closely behind to drop all of your kit back home again for you.
There are plenty of options if you’d like to extend your Jurassic Coast adventure with Nine Yards. We can move the start or end point, add rest days to take in some of the historic sights and get lost in villages, or add a day sea kayaking if that’s what you’re into. Get in touch and we can talk through the options.

- Routes loaded into a GPS device for the nominated team navigator and added to a backup OS Landranger map too
- Routes available in GPX/KML format, viewable on Google Maps, Strava etc. for the rest of the team
- Devices charged overnight so you are juiced up
- A Nine Yards T-shirt for the lead booker and Nine Yards tote bags for the rest of the team

- Alcoholic/soft drinks other than water
- Personal equipment (bike, helmet, waterproof clothes etc) – We can arrange the hire of kit, if required
